History
Initially the District and Sessions Court, Ahmedabad (Rural) was sitting at Bhadra upto 03-11-1961 and then shifted on 04-11-1961 at Narol and it was function upto 17-10-1988 which was a distance of about 15 kms away for Ahmedabad. Thereafter, the District Court was shifted once again on 18/10/1988 in the Newly constructed Building i.e., Judicial Complex at Mirzapur, Ahmedabad. Due to earthquake, Judicial Complex was severely damaged and, the functioning of the Ahmedabad (Rural) District Court was shifted to Old High Court Complex with effect from 07/05/2001 till 13/11/2006. Then after retrofitted of Mirzapur Court Complex and on 14/11/2006 the District Courts was shifted its own building for functioning. Dholka, Dhandhuka, Sanand and Viramgam are the Taluka places which are under the Jurisdiction of the Judicial District of Ahmedabad ( Rural ). Initially Dehgam and Gandhinagar Talukas were functioning under the jurisdiction of Ahmedabad ( Rural ) District, but with effect from 31/7/2004, in view of the formation of new Judicial District of Gandhinagar, the Dehgam Taluka is included in Gandhinagar Judicial District. The First District Judge of Ahmedabad ( Rural ) was Shri D.P.Desai.
Due to Dilapidated Condition of Mirzapur Court Building, This District Court has again shifted & functioning at Old High Court Complex at Navrangpura with effect from 16th October 2023.
